Since we aren't on every social media site, let us come to you. Enter your email below and we'll send you our monthly handwritten newsletter. It will be written during the hours of moonrise, and include featured posts, wild tangents, and rowdy stick figures.

Keep the beautiful pen busy.

Brooklyn, NY

Handwritten is a place and space for pen and paper. We showcase things in handwriting, but also on handwriting. And so, you'll see dated letters and distant postcards alongside recent studies and typed stories.

Every few moons, we explore a new unknown. These exhibits are collaborations with individuals and organizations leading efforts related to the art or act of writing by hand. From solo-shows to interactive exhibits, these collaborations have taken us around the world. We hope these unique experiences will prompt you toward the page, instrument in hand. To learn about our current exhibit — "To Whom It Should Concern," a collaboration with The Bell (an education podcast focused on student narratives) and the New York Public Library — and how to participate from anywhere in the world, see below.

If you've an idea for an exhibition, let's invent together.
